Our Story

Bean Possible is a technology-based startup emerging from UFRJ, founded in 2022, which develops innovative plant-based ingredients and solutions by combining science, sustentability and brasilidade.

 

The company arose from the scientific experience of its co-founders, Gabrielle and Ailton, PhDs in Food Engineering and Science, who together have accumulated over 20 years of research in separation and purification processes of biocompounds from agro-industrial by-products.

The transformation of research into market innovation began in 2022, when the co-founder participated in the Academia-Industry Training, an international acceleration program for scientist-entrepreneurs, promoted by Swissnex in partnership with CNPq and the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland).

 

Bean Possible consolidated itself as a business upon being approved for the FAPERJ "Doutor Empreendedor" Program, which led to its formalization in 2023 and its integration into the COPPE/UFRJ Business Incubator.

Partnerships with industry companies and laboratories from institutions such as UFRJ, UNIFESP, and IF Goiano, combined with integration into innovation hubs like Uplab SENAI and Bioma Food Hub, drive the development of technologies and ingredients, while deepening the understanding of their functionalities, applications, and market dynamics.

 

Currently, Bean Possible is advancing the industrial scalability of its technology while offering development services and technical consulting, supported by the technical and scientific expertise of its team.

Our Achievements

Bean Possible ranked 3rd place among Brazilian startups/projects in the 8th edition of the Swissnex Academia-Industry Training program; and was a finalist in the Falling Walls Lab Brazil pitch competition.

Bean Possible was also highlighted in the ideation and operation cycles of the Shell Iniciativa Jovem program, where it also received the Sustainable Enterprise Seal.

In addition, the company was accelerated by national programs such as Ibmec Hubs, Conecta Startups Brasil, Empreendedoras Tech, and Catalisa ICT. Currently, it is part of the ProVeg Incubator acceleration, through the Fast-Track to Impact program, as the only Brazilian startup selected.
